The Hubert Humphrey Metrodome was the host of this twenty-sixth edition of football's grandest event, the second Super Bowl to be contested in a cold weather climate. Though the game day temperatures outside the dome dipped as low as nine degrees Fahrenheit on game day, the league's most prolific offense (495 regular season points) remained red-hot against the defending AFC Champion Buffalo Bills, scoring the first seventeen points of the game and never looking back. Redskins quarterback Mark Rypien would take the Super Bowl MVP Award with 292 yards passing and two touchdowns.
