The Super Bowl XXI was played on January 25, 1987, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, a thirty-nine to twenty defeat of John Elway and the Denver Broncos in front of more than 100,000 fans at the Rose Bowl. Although down 10-9 to the Denver Broncos at halftime, the G-Men erupted for 30 second-half points behind the uber-efficient QB play of Phil Simms, who was named MVP after going 22-for-25 passing with 268 yards and three TD's. His 88% completion percentage set a Super Bowl and postseason record.
