On January 20, 1985 in Super Bowl XIX, Joe Montana bested Dan Marino in Stanford Stadium 38-16, or rather the 49ers over the Dolphins. This particular contest remains one of the most famous in Super Bowl history as the sole meeting in combat of legendary quarterbacks Joe Montana and Dan Marino, each of whom passed for over 300 yards, a first for the Big Game. The 49ers victory would prove to be the second of four claimed by the team during the decade.
