Super Bowl XV, played at the Louisiana Superdome, pitted the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles against the AFC Champion Oakland Raiders. In the end, fans saw Raiders' QB Jim Plunkett pass for three touchdowns, including an 80-yard strike to Kenny King, as Oakland beat Philadelphia 27-10 to become the first wild-card team to win the Super Bowl. Plunkett's touchdown bomb to King gave Oakland a decisive 14-0 lead with nine seconds left in the first period. Plunkett, who became Oakland's starting QB in the sixth game of the season, completed 13 of 21 for 261 yards and was named Super Bowl XV MVP.
